At last, a hotel offers a full 24 hour stay - hurray for The Address in Dubai!

I thought the day would never come so I was over the moon to learn that at last a hotel is offering a full 24 hour stay. You can check in anytime you want - yes, that's right - A-N-Y-T-I-M-E - and check out again a whole 24 hours later! At long last guests will actually get what they pay for, instead of the 20 hours they're typically allowed to stay if they check in at 2pm and check out by 10am, which seems to be the norm these days. So three cheers for The Address, and it's sister-property The Palace, in Dubai, two properties that are part of the new Emaar hotel group. You may recall that this was something Terry and I complained about in the 10 things that annoy us about hotels series, and it's something that has really irked us, especially as we spend around 300 days a year in hotels. So we're looking forward to testing out the service when we're back in Dubai, just to make sure there's no catch. We'll let you know how our 24 hour stay goes. Let's hope this innovation catches on. Pictured? That's the sublime spa suite at The Address.

Oh my gosh!!! Never had a 4-hour extension made such a difference! Da-da-da-da-da-da (singing and dancing in glee!). I should get me on a plane to Dubai! They're really revolutionizing the way people perceive the Middle East! They are absolutely way more sophsticated than many North American contingents who seem like they are stuck in the backwaters of the Mississippi.

Oh gosh, I hate to say this, but I always thought the hotels were way more sophisticated in Dubai (and other Middle Eastern cities too - I'm thinking Beirut, Cairo, Damascus...) than North America anyway! New York aside of course!

My North American friends are going to give me heaps I know. But the level of luxury, comfort, quality, technology and service in the Middle East can't be beaten - and I think it has a lot to do with the notion of Arab hospitality that's so innate to the culture.

I really hope this change does start setting some trends. Let's hope!

Hurrah for them. Nothing sucks more than arriving late in town off a long bus or plane ride, paying the full room rate, and then only getting a few hours in bed before check-out. Somewhere I stayed recently had a 9am checkout. I got an extension, but was still rushed.

It would be great to have this service in the U.S. if only in the larger (chain) hotels. It's difficult having to "time" your arrival to 3 p.m. check in, especially when you're flying the redeye across the U.S. I hope it catches on!

Absolutely... I so hear you on this... this costs me so much more for my travel and actually screws up my plane trips. So, this would be remarkable... and frankly I'd rather pay twice the price for somewhere just doing the right thing. These days with the complexity of an internal booking system, they really should be able to make this pay and not have to rely on the idea that one day starts and ends at a certain point. Obviously especially in Dubai... but what gets me is that I still know of almost nowhere that does it near airports. Which is bloody crazy.

Ta again,
Sandy

I really hope this catches on, kudos to them for doing this.
Travel Muse, it's not just the US sadly, plenty of flights arrive in Dubai at ungodly hours as there is no flying curfew. It really makes these hotel go to the top of the list for me as paying for a room where you check in at 2am and checkout is at noon has always irked me.

Wow! Like Susan, I hope this idea spreads to other parts of the world as well.

Hi all

Yes, let's hope it spreads! What a great idea, hey?!

I wish more writers were covering this announcement and daring other hotels to do the same.

Thanks for your comments!
